The Learning Rooms worked with the Public Appointments Service to design and develop an interview skills online course for staff clients sitting on interview boards.

The Challenge

The Public Appointment Services wanted embrace eLearning in their interview skills training delivery. They wanted to ensure all board members where adhering to best practice, following their quality assurance mechanisms and adhering to the codes of practice. The interview skills online course was delivered on a new Moodle Learning Management System.

The Solution

The Learning Rooms designed and delivered five eLearning modules:

  • Introduction
  • Preparing for the Interview
  • Interviewing a Candidate
  • Scoring & Evaluation
  • Practice Interview

The ‘Core Skills of Interviewing’ modules navigate learners through the best practice approach to interviewing. They include how to prepare in advance of the interview, making the most of the time available during the interview, and evaluation and scoring.

This project was shortlisted by the Irish Institute of Training & Development National Training Awards 2018 in the ‘Excellence in Digital Learning’ category.

The Excellence in Digital Learning award aims to recognise an outstanding and innovative initiative which includes any type of learning that is facilitated by technology or by instructional practice that makes effective use of technology.
