Project: Sexual Violence and Harassment: How to support yourself and your peers
Client: Active* Consent & NUI Galway
About Active* Consent
Active* Consent is an initiative that supports young people to have positive and confident sexual health and wellbeing. They support young people from 16 – 24 but work with a range of groups, including teachers, parents, college staff and policy makers. The Active* Consent programme includes small group workshops; larger group drama presentations; engaging with the online community through social media and interactive video content; and training. Active* Consent grew out of an existing collaboration with Psychology and Drama and Theatre Studies at NUI Galway.
Business Challenge
Active* Consent partnered with The Learning Rooms to help them to develop their webinar and a 30 minute eLearning module aimed at promoting positive and confident sexual health and wellbeing for students at 22 colleges and universities around the country. The eLearning course needed to address sensitive areas, such as legal definitions of rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment, in an appropriate, realistic and supportive way, as well as be accessible to all 22 higher education institutions.
The programme was launched by Simon Harris, Minister for Further and Higher Education on 21 September 2020 and has been developed with support from the Department of Education and Skills, Lifes2Good Foundation, Rethink Ireland and NUI Galway.
“From our first meeting with The Learning Rooms team, Active* Consent knew they were the fit for us due to their pedagogical and creative mindset and their warm collaborative demeanour. Time and again, they have bowled us over with their solutions, their troubleshooting and their dynamic realisation of our vision. It feels as if they are an integral part of our team although we have only worked with them six weeks. They are leaders in this field and we feel so lucky to have brought this complicated vision to fruition with them.”
