NYCI is the representative body for voluntary youth organisations in Ireland. With a staff of over 1,400 and 40,000 volunteers, they support more than 380,000 young people. NYCI use their collective experience to act on issues that impact on young people. They are focused on a number of key areas, from advocacy, research and policy to child protection and equality.

Business Challenge

Online safety has become a key issue for the youth work sector in Ireland. NYCI wanted to develop an eLearning course on online safety to support the professionals and volunteers working with young people to increase their digital awareness and address key topics in online safety. It was important NYCI were able to roll out the training to youth workers in various locations around Ireland.

Our Solution

The Learning Rooms partnered with NYCI to develop an online learning programme for youth workers which consists of six independent eLearning modules. The modern and interactive modules introduce youth workers to key risks that young people may face online, such as inappropriate content, online abuse, sexting and cyberbullying. Youth workers will be equipped with practical tools to enable them to help the young people they work with. The modules are enriched with animations, quizzes, real life examples and interactive content. Accompanying the eLearning programme is a Training Support Manual, which has been designed to provide further resources, guides and checklists to correspond to the learning from the modules.
