Data Protection eLearning for OneLearning
The Learning Rooms worked with OneLearning to design and develop an eLearning course in Articulate Storyline about data protection and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
About OneLearning
OneLearning is the Irish Civil Service learning and development centre within the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER). Its key role is the provision of learning, development and training across the Civil Service in Ireland.

The Challenge
OneLearning wanted to create an eLearning course about data protection and the principles of the GDPR for people working in the Civil Service . It was important that learners would be able to recognise when they might come into contact with personal data in their role, how to protect people’s personal data and what to do in the case of a data breach. OneLearning wanted the course to be fully accessible and inclusive. A key focus for them was to make the course as relevant and practical as possible for their learners.
The Solution
The Learning Rooms developed a one-hour course in Articulate Storyline that combines interactive elements, royalty-free video and animation to create an engaging and relevant learning experience. Scenario-based learning is used to help Civil Service staff identify specific principles of the GDPR and when a data breach has occurred. Learners are encouraged to reflect and make notes throughout. The course includes animations on practical tips to protect personal data and Tip Sheets were developed as an additional resource.
