Digital literacy skills eLearning for An Cosán

The Learning Rooms worked with An Cosán to develop 21 eLearning courses. The courses are for adult learners to develop digital literacy skills in line with the EU Digital Competence Framework for Citizens. They form the educational element of An Cosán’s Get Yourself Online campaign.

The Challenge

The Adult Literacy for Life Strategy in 2020 shows that almost one in two adults in Ireland lack basic digital skills. An Cosán aims to bridge the digital divide by upskilling adults, particularly women from disadvantaged areas across Ireland, with the digital skills and confidence to participate fully in society. As part of their Get Yourself Online campaign, An Cosán wanted to create a series of eLearning modules to help adults develop the digital competencies outlined in the EU Digital Competence Framework for Citizens.

The Solution

The Learning Rooms provided content writing, instructional design and eLearning development services for 21 15-minute modules on digital literacy skills.

The modules cover five key digital competence areas:

  • Information and data literacy
  • Communication and collaboration
  • Digital content creation
  • Safety
  • Problem-solving

The modules are written in Plain English. They are designed to be very practical, with relevant examples and scenarios providing an opportunity for learners to practice their new skills at the end of each topic. Each module was aligned to a competency on the DigComp Framework.
