NCHD induction for SVUH

The Learning Rooms worked with St. Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH) to design their eLearning induction for non-consultant hospital doctors (NCHDs). The NCHD induction provides information on the hospital structure, departments, systems and documentation.

About SVUH

SVUH is Ireland’s leading academic teaching hospital and provides front-line, acute, chronic and emergency care across 50 different medical specialities. It is Ireland’s only integrated multi-hospital campus. SVUH is part of the St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group (SVHG) which includes St. Vincent’s Private Hospital and St. Michael’s Hospital.

The Challenge

SVUH welcomes NCHDs to complete work placements as part of their training. They identified a need to onboard each group of NCHDs quickly and efficiently. To help the NCHDs navigate the hospital and its systems, as well as access documents, help and support, SVUH wanted to design a modern induction programme. It was important that the induction was engaging, relevant, easy to navigate, and would serve as a useful resource for NCHDs to access information quickly and easily.

The Solution

Heads of departments at SVUH were responsible for providing content for their department and speciality of the NCHD induction. The Learning Rooms supported the content development process with SVUH learning and development, and human resources.

The Learning Rooms developed 11 Articulate Rise modules with a blend of interactive activities, videos, knowledge checks and content-specific media. The Learning Rooms built the course on the SVUH Moodle platform to include a welcome message, an overview for each section with additional resources, a course evaluation and a certificate of completion.
