Online safety course for youth workers
The Learning Rooms partnered with the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) to develop an online safety and awareness course for youth workers.
About NYCI
NYCI is the representative body for voluntary youth organisations in Ireland. With over 1,400 staff and 40,000 volunteers, they support more than 380,000 young people. NYCI focus on a range of key areas, from advocacy, research and policy to child protection and equality.
The Challenge
Online safety has become a key issue for the youth work sector in Ireland. NYCI wanted to develop an eLearning course to support those working with young people to increase their digital awareness and address key topics in online safety. It was important NYCI were able to roll out the online safety and awareness course to youth workers in various locations around Ireland.
The Solution
The Learning Rooms and NYCI developed six eLearning modules to introduce youth workers to key risks young people may face online. The modules include content about online abuse, sexting and cyberbullying, and much more. Youth workers will be equipped with practical tools to help the young people they work with. Accompanying the online safety and awareness course is a Training Support Manual, with resources, guides and checklists.
