Family Carers Ireland partnered with The Learning Rooms to develop online training aimed at supporting family carers. The eLearning modules and animated videos cover specific aspects of the caring role, such as nutrition and coping with grief, as well as alerting carers to specific Family Carers Ireland schemes that may be available to them.
About the client
Family Carers Ireland is a charity that supports carers who are responsible for caring for their family members who may be frail, terminally ill, have a physical or intellectual disability or are suffering from chronic illness or addiction. Family Carers Ireland aim to recognise, support and empower family carers. They believe that no one should have to care alone.
The Challenge
Family Carers Ireland wanted to develop a series of online training modules for family carers. They wanted to embrace new technology and develop a series of online learning resources aimed at supporting family carers all over the country. The eLearning modules needed to be high quality, very practical and relevant for family carers for years to come. Family Carers Ireland also wanted to make the most of their access to highly regarded subject matter experts, who were able provide their time and expertise to the project.
The Solution
Family Carers Ireland partnered with The Learning Rooms to help them to develop four eLearning modules and two animated videos. Topics for the eLearning modules include:
- Supporting Good Nutrition and Hydration for Family Carers
- Continence Care for Family Carers
- Positive Communication for Families
- Family Caring and Coping with Grief
The two animated videos include information on the Family Carers Emergency Scheme and the Family Carers Caring Employer Scheme.
Coming to the e-learning arena without prior experience was a little daunting, but The Learning Rooms supported us through each step of the process, from concept to final material. We are delighted with the resources we now have for family carers to access in their own time.
