The Public Appointments Service
Recruitment and selection eLearning for the Irish public service
The Learning Rooms worked with the Public Appointments Service to design and build an online recruitment and selection toolkit, and a series of eLearning modules for staff induction.
About the Public Appointments Service
The Public Appointments Service is the leading provider of recruitment, assessment and selection services for Civil Services in Ireland. They recruit for organisations, such as the HSE, An Garda Síochána and local authorities.
The Challenge
The Public Appointments Service needed to develop an online recruitment and selection toolkit to support their staff and clients ensure best practice and alignment with the codes of practice. Alongside this, they also required online induction training for the Public Appointments Service staff.
The Solution
The Learning Rooms worked with the Public Appointments Service to design the online recruitment and selection toolkit, which comprised four eLearning modules:
- Developing Job Descriptions and Person Specifications
- Shortlisting
- Designing Quality Selection Processes
- Unconscious Bias
The eLearning modules feature in-depth scenario-based learning where staff are introduced to recruitment cases. Staff then choose the appropriate methods to demonstrate their understanding at each stage of the recruitment process and how they can positively support candidates.
As well as this, four induction eLearning modules were developed:
- About the Public Appointments Service
- Delivering for Our Customers
- Information Governance
- The CPSA Codes of Practice
