Instructional Design for eLearning provides a practical and accessible way to learn how to develop relevant, high quality, and interactive digital learning.

The course leads you through the instructional design process. It follows the ADDIE framework, providing the relevant theory with practical examples and exercises at each stage. An individual project, woven through the course, supports you to develop your own eLearning storyboard.

This self-paced online course provides an interactive learning experience. Written and built by our digital learning team and built using our Storyline Template, it provides a multimedia rich learning experience. It is delivered through eight sections made up of short eLearning modules, resources, and an assessment. You will practically apply your learning through a series of short tasks leading to an eLearning course storyboard on completion.

The Instructional Design for eLearning section explores the instructional design frameworks ADDIE and SAM. It outlines the instructional design process with a focus on analysing the learning need and defining learning outcomes. You will be introduced to relevant learning theories, learn how to structure your eLearning course, and how to write great content.

In this section you will write SMART learning outcomes and develop a structure for your course.

The Storyboarding your eLearning Project section explores the use of storyboards in eLearning. You will learn how to develop a storyboard.

Motivating and Assessing your Learners

The Motivating and Assessing your Learners section explores how to design eLearning content to motivate your learners. It discusses learning through questioning, how to write great questions, and the options available to assess your learners. It also introduces you to scenario-based learning.

Assessment & certification

There are four short assessments. Participants must complete all modules and pass all assessments. A digital Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants who complete the course.
