Site Safety for Consultant Engineers
The Learning Rooms worked with Engineers Ireland and the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland to create a specialised eLearning course on site safety for consultant engineers.
About Engineers Ireland
Engineers Ireland is the voice of the engineering profession in Ireland. Engineers Ireland is a membership organisation that represents over 25,000 engineers in Ireland. Their members span various engineering disciplines, whether commencing as a student, apprentice, a qualified graduate or as an experienced engineer.

About ACEI
The Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI) is a voluntary, self-regulatory professional body that advocates for the interests of consulting engineering firms and individuals. It contributes to the development of public policy through involvement in relevant working groups, Government committees and the development of model conditions of engagement and policy papers.

The Challenge
Engineers Ireland and ACEI wanted to increase safety for consultant engineers and other professionals who occasionally visit construction sites as part of their work. Training was required to help these visitors identify potential hazards before and during a site visit. They also needed to be able to recognise, plan for and mitigate common hazards they might encounter. Additionally, they needed to be aware of what to do if they had safety concerns or encountered an accident while on-site.
The Solution
The Learning Rooms, in collaboration with Engineers Ireland and ACEI, developed a comprehensive five-part eLearning course to guide consultant engineers and other professionals in safely conducting site visits. The course delivers extensive content covering various aspects of site safety, such as site types, hazards and control methods, as well as effective planning strategies for site visits. There course concludes with a comprehensive assessment.
