Module 1: Workplace Requirements and Best Practices
At the end of this module, you should be able to:
- Define first aid and explain why it’s important
- Describe your responsibilities under the legislation
- Recall what’s in a first aid kit
- Take steps to prevent and minimise the spread of infection
Module 2: Common Injuries and Medical Conditions
At the end of this module, you should be able to:
- Recognise common injuries
- Identify signs and symptoms of common medical conditions
- Take appropriate action
- Recognise when to call emergency services
Module 3: Responding to Emergencies
At the end of this module, you should be able to:
- Recognise life-threatening emergencies
- Describe the key signs and symptoms of major emergencies
- Identify when to contact emergency services
- Recall basic emergency first aid techniques

First Aid training
You’ll learn about first aid definitions, legislative responsibilities and what to expect in a first aid kit. You’ll also learn about the practical steps to prevent infection and how to recognise common workplace injuries and medical conditions.
You’ll develop practical first aid skills for burns, cuts, fainting and seizures, plus life threatening emergencies. The course covers essential techniques including CPR, choking response and how to assist during heart attacks, strokes and severe allergic reactions. You’ll also learn when to contact emergency services and when situations require professional medical attention.
