Every eLearning company needs a reliable way of turning an idea into a finished course. At The Learning Rooms, that way is eXACT. It stands for eXplore, Architect, Create and Test, and it shapes everything we do, from a short microlearning module to a full blended programme.
We built eXACT because we wanted a process that was consistent, transparent and focused on results. Clients know what to expect at each stage, our team knows what good looks like before we start building, and learners end up with something that actually works for them.
eXplore
Every project starts with exploration. This is where we get to know the subject, the audience and the problem we are trying to solve. We ask questions about who the learners are, what they already know, and what needs to change once the course is finished.
This stage often includes the following activities.
- Stakeholder interviews to understand business goals
- Reviewing existing content and materials
- Defining clear learning outcomes
- Agreeing the scope and approach for the project
Getting this stage right means we are solving the right problem before we design a single screen.
Architect
Once we understand the goals, we move into architecture. This is where the course takes shape on paper before it takes shape on screen. We build a full storyboard that maps out the structure, the content, the interactions and the assessment.
Architecting a course properly means thinking about pacing, sequencing and how ideas build on each other. It also gives clients a chance to review and approve the plan before development begins, which saves time and avoids surprises later.
Create
With an approved storyboard in place, our instructional designers and multimedia developers bring the course to life. We use tools like Articulate Storyline and Rise 360 to build engaging, interactive experiences that suit the content and the audience.
We design every interaction with accessibility in mind from the start. That means we avoid features like drag and drop questions, since they do not work well for everyone, and we choose interactions that are genuinely useful rather than decorative.
Test
The final stage is testing. We check that the course works technically, that the content is accurate, and that it meets accessibility standards. This includes testing with a screen reader to make sure the experience works for all learners, not just some of them.
Thorough testing at this stage means clients receive a polished, reliable course that is ready to launch with confidence.
Why eXACT works
eXACT gives structure without slowing things down. Each stage has a clear purpose, and moving through them in order means we rarely have to backtrack or redo work. It also means our clients always know where a project stands and what happens next.
Whether we are building a single eLearning module or a large scale blended programme, eXACT is the framework that keeps our work focused, accessible and effective.
